The Buildcorp Wallaroos will play New Zealand’s Black Ferns on Saturday August 10 in 2019, as a part of a Double Header when the Qantas Wallabies take on New Zealand at Optus Stadium in Perth.
It will be the first time that the Buildcorp Wallaroos have played a Test match in Western Australia.
The announcement comes off the back of the successful double-header held at ANZ Stadium in Sydney in August, where 28, 842 fans, the highest ever for a Women’s International, saw Australia’s national women’s XVs side share the Bledisloe Cup stage with their male counterparts for the first time on home soil.
The announcement comes as an exclusive pre-sale period for the Perth double-header opens today to enable RugbyWA members to access the first round of public tickets.
Fans from across Australia will be able to get early access to tickets with Vodafone Super Rugby members on Monday 15 October and the wider Rugby community pre-sale on Wednesday 17 October.
Tickets for the general public go on sale on October 26. Rugby Australia Chief Executive, Raelene Castle said: “We are really proud to announce that the Buildcorp Wallaroos and Black Ferns will play again in 2019 after two great Test matches this year in Sydney and Auckland.
“There is now double the incentive for fans to get out to what will be a memorable Rugby event at Optus Stadium with the Bledisloe Cup heading to Perth for the first time, and the first ever Women’s Test match in the west.
“I know many fans from across Australia and New Zealand will want to travel for this historic occasion, to experience outstanding Rugby and everything that Western Australia has to offer.” WA Tourism Minister Paul Papalia said it was a great coup for Western Australia to host the Bledisloe Cup at Optus Stadium.
“We are hoping thousands of people will travel to Perth from the eastern states and overseas to watch the game because it will be the only time the All Blacks and the Wallabies play on Australian soil next year and the fact it will be one of the last hit outs for both teams leading into the Rugby World Cup.
“The match will also attract big TV audiences across Australia and internationally which will provide a great platform to highlight Perth in some of our key markets.
“Attracting and supporting events such as this one is a crucial part of our Two-Year Action Plan to grow WA’s tourism industry.”
Buildcorp Wallaroos Head Coach Dwayne Nestor said: “It’s fantastic news that the Buildcorp Wallaroos will get to play their first Test match in Perth.
“As a Western Australian myself I know personally how strong the Women’s game is in the west and this is only going to help to inspire a whole new generation of female Rugby players in WA.
“Our team is building on the mantra of “influencing a generation” and we are proud of the steps we have taken with the program in 2018 but there is still a number of targets we want to hit.”
Australia is one of two countries bidding for the hosting rights for the 2021 Women’s Rugby World Cup, with New Zealand the other competing nation.
The announcement of the successful bidder will be made by World Rugby on November 15.
