Michaela Leonard

Wallaroos forward Michaela Leonard is one of the most experienced players in the Australian squad and a mainstay since making her international debut in 2019.

Leonard grew up a talented basketballer with her height quickly being identified as an advantage at line-out, with the lock position becoming her own once she took the sport up ahead of the inaugural 2018 Super Rugby Women's season.

Leonard is originally from Canberra, playing for the ACT Brumbies, before moving to the Western Force in 2023. She took over the Wallaroos captaincy in 2023 following an injury to Piper Duck and retained the role in 2024.

Off the field Leonard is a qualified vet physiotherapist, working predominantly with dogs and horses when she's not on the rugby field.
