The Wallaroos have rebounded from last week’s defeat with a 27-19 win over the USA in Canberra.

With both teams set to face off in September at the World Cup, it’s a massive psychological boost for Jo Yapp’s side.

Charlotte Caslick was excellent on the wing, whilst Ashley Marsters was a clear player of the match with a double.

The game went down to the wire before the poise of the Wallaroos proved the difference as they closed out the win.

The Americans’ power game proved troubling for the Wallaroos early as they dictated the opening minutes.

It allowed loosehead Hope Rogers to take over, crossing for the opener in the 15th minute.

She would get her second right before the half-time break as the USA ran their attack through their superstar prop.

This is where Caslick stepped up and sparked the Aussies for a 19-14 lead at the break.

The Sevens superstar opened her 15-a-side account after backing up a nice break from captain Siokapesi Palu.

Ash Marsters gave them the lead with a smart quick tap in the 27th minute before Caslick’s perfect kick in behind forced one of several mistakes from the USA.

It laid the groundwork for prop Eva Karpani to make it two tries in two games for the lead at the break.

Marsters’ second after the break extended the Aussies' advantage to 24-14 when she dived over from a lineout move.

But Rogers was intent on keeping America in the game and her third try of the match had the Eagles back in the contest.

Faitala Moleka’s long range penalty pushed the lead out to eight and behind a converted try as the hosts looked to control territory.

The frustration of the defeat boiled over for the USA when Alev Kelter was red carded for a clear stomp on Georgina Friedrichs.
