Desiree Miller slices through for her second try v Fijiana

Desiree Miller admits she had no idea she'd tied the Wallaroos' try-scoring record as she soaked in her place in history after Saturday's win over Fijiana.

Miller's four tries are the most since Ruan Sims in 2006 against South Africa and just the second player to reach the mark.

It continues the 22-year-old's remarkable season, having scored three against Fijiana Drua in the Super Rugby W Final.

“I had no idea about the record, it got to the end of the game and everyone was coming up and saying ‘one more and you would’ve broken the record’ and I didn’t even think about in the game," Miller said to reporters.

“You’re just thinking about your next move and what you can do for the team.

“After you step back and have a look, it’s amazing so great I could even match that.”

Miller opened her Test account against the USA in Melbourne and points to that moment as key towards growing her confidence at the international level.

"Coming into the international stage, not that you doubt yourself but it is a lot more daunting than your national competition," she admits.

"Getting that try fueled that confidence and made me trust myself that there's a reason I'm here and why I've got that 11 jersey.

"I'm just trusting my skills and the reason I was picked for the work to just deliver on that and do my job."

Miller's rise has been incredibly since picking up the sport in quarantine, with coach Jo Yapp praising her application to the sport.

“‘Des’ is an extremely professional athlete. She’s come from another sport to Rugby and she’s transferred so well," Yapp said.

“She’s just so professional in her attitude, constantly wanting to learn so I’m just really pleased for her.

“She was on the end of some great work from the forwards so we can’t take that away from them she definitely took her opportunities really well.

“I’m really pleased for her.”
