Ashley Fernandez is an emerging lock from Canberra who started playing Rugby at Radford College.

The Yass resident joined the Canberra Royals in the local competition before moving to the Uni-North Owls and being picked for the ACT Brumbies.

Fernandez’s father, Jaime, was a three-time Olympian and silver medallist in rowing at the 2000 Olympic Games.

After pushing through injuries during her Super Rugby Women's career, Fernandez broke into the Wallaroos extended squad in 2024.

She was part of the Wallaroos' Pacific Four series squad and travelled to Ireland, Wales and South Africa for the side's WXV 2 campaign before picking up a shoulder injury and returning home.

Fernandez made her Wallaroos debut against Fijiana in Suva and is eyeing a spot for the Rugby World Cup.

Off the field Fernandez is studying a Bachelor of Secondary Education and is a learning support worker.
