Samoa-born Cecilia Smith grew up in Leeton, NSW, and has been around the Wallaroos system for four years now, having been on the radar of selectors for an extended period after dealing with injuries.
One of an impressive 11 siblings, Smith started playing rugby at age 22. She also represented Samoa at the Commonwealth Championship in 2018.
Smith joined the Queensland Reds in 2019, spending five years in the Super Rugby Women's competition before shifting to the Western Force in 2025.
She made her debut against the Black Ferns in 2022 and is a mother to young daughter Ruby, who inspires her to keep playing.
Smith was named Super Rugby Women's player of the year in 2023 and took over the Queensland Reds captaincy in 2024. Smith was part of the Wallaroos' triumph WXV 2 campaign, scoring a try against Scotland in the final.
Smith will push towards a second World Cup appearance. Off the field she enjoys spending time with her family, sleeping and playing social sport.
