Newcastle product Layne Morgan is an electric scrumhalf who made her Wallaroos debut against Fijiana in 2022 before a World Cup appearance a few months later.
Morgan danced growing up but did not enjoy it. She then moved to netball and touch football but became too aggressive towards the opposition.
Her parents and brother all played either league or union growing up, adding to her interests.
She craved a contact sport and as a teenager took up rugby, excelling in the Sevens arena before moving to 15s, where she quickly cemented her spot in senior sides.
Morgan was picked up by the NSW Waratahs ahead of the inaugural Super Rugby Women's competition in 2018.
Morgan was pivotal in the Waratahs’ success in the Super Rugby Women's while there in 2018-2024 before moving to the Queensland Reds in 2025.
Since her international debut in 2022, Morgan has gone on to play over 25 caps for the national side.
Off the field and Morgan is passionate about nutrition and fitness while she also works as a mathematics teacher.
