Western Australia product Samantha Wood grew up on her parents’ 10-acre property in Roleystone but it wasn’t until she attended her brother’s rugby training session that she wanted to play the game.

Born in Subiaco, she first started playing for Arks Rugby Club as a seven-year old before making her way up through the ranks in WA.

Wood began her senior footy with Kalamunda Rugby and was soon identified by Western Force as a future star.

She had a breakout 2024 for the Force as the side reached semi-finals for the first time before earning a Wallaroos debut during the Pacific Four series.

She earned another recall during the WXV 2 tournament in South Africa when injuries struck while on tour.

A back injury kept Wood out of the Super Rugby Women’s competition in 2025 but the young gun returned to the field in June ahead of the World Cup.

She came off the bench for two games before starting in the final match before the World Cup against Wales.

Off the field Wood is studying Sport and Exercise Science at university while working as a pick packer and enjoys fishing, camping and golf.
