Waiaria Ellis is a Western Sydney product who has a bright future in Australian rugby.

Ellis, nicknamed 'Baba' is a speedy outside back who plays touch football and Oztag outside of rugby commitments while she is on the rise in the Rugby Sevens space due to her footwork.

The young gun plays for the Blacktown Scorpions and in 2024 became the youngest player alongside teammate Caitlyn Halse to debut for the Waratahs aged just 16.

Of Australian and Māori descent, Ellis came on the national radar with the teenager touring South Africa with the Wallaroos at WXV 2 in 2024.

She continued her rapid rise with selection in the Wallaroos Managed Group before making her international debut against New Zealand in Wellington in 2025 - becoming the second youngest-ever Test debutant.

Ellis was selected for the Rugby World Cup squad and although did not take the field, gained valuable experience as she looks towards 2026.

Outside of the Wallaroos, Ellis trains with the Australian Sevens squad and is studying at University after graduating high school.
