After eight years and 28 caps as a Wallaroo, Emily Chancellor will become the 19th player to captain the side when they run out to face Wales this weekend at Ballymore.

It is one of six changes head coach Jo Yapp has made to the side that lost to the Black Ferns in Wellington.

Michaela Leonard and Faitala Moleka will be rested, with Chancellor coming into the side to replace injured skipper Siokapesi Palu at blindside flanker.

Georgina Friedrichs returns to the side, with Charlotte Caslick sidelined for the series with an ankle injury.

Faliki Pohiva will also miss out after picking up a hamstring complaint, with Lydia Kavoa coming into the starting side. She will be one of two changes to the front row, with Katalina Amosa moving into the starting side and Tania Naden being rotated back to the bench.

Annabelle Codey will join the second row in place of Leonard, while Caitlyn Halse returns to her starting position of fullback in place of Moleka.

Finally, the bench will see three additional faces to the squad, with Bree-Anna Browne, Ashley Fernandez and Lori Cramer expected to inject energy as the finishers.

Despite Wales finishing the 2025 Six Nations without a win, the women in red claimed their first win over the Wallaroos in 2024 with a 31-24 victory in Newport before the start of the WXV 2 series.

The Wallaroos had previously defeated Wales on six separate occasions, later winning 37-5 in their WXV 2 opener in South Africa - however this series will mark the first time ever Wales have played on Australian shores.

The match will also be significant for the Wallaroos, with the most-capped player, Ashley Marsters, set to notch up her 40th Test appearance in gold, becoming the first player in the history of the Wallaroo jersey to do so.

"We’re looking forward to playing these final two Test matches on home soil before the World Cup begins," head coach Yapp said in an official statement.

"Injuries have forced our hand with a few changes for the series but it also gives opportunities to other players ahead of the World Cup.

"While disappointing to lose a leader like Siokapesi Palu, we are fortunate to have someone like Emily Chancellor be able to step up in her place and lead the team.

"Emily is a natural leader and has worked closely throughout this season with Siokapesi."
