Wallaroos coach Jo Yapp is looking to effectively integrate the Sevens players into the Test squad as they prepare for a big 2025 season.

Yapp named a 40-player squad that included Triple-Crown winning Sevens trio Charlotte Caslick, Tia Hinds and Bienne Terita.

All three featured in Super Rugby Women's, with Caslick playing the second half of the season for the Queensland Reds, with Hinds and Terita limited to one appearance each.

Caslick's commitment to 15s was confirmed last month, but the Brumbies duo's decision to forgo next month's Sevens Final in Los Angeles for the hallmark event was welcomed by Yapp.

“Both of them have always shown a big commitment to the 15s," she told the media.

“‘BB’ was out injured when they had the opportunity through Super Rugby W and then when she did get fit, unfortunately, Brumbies didn't make the semifinals. She’s always been very committed to the 15s and played in the last World Cup too.

“Unfortunately, (Hinds) hasn't had as many games and that's why it's important that she comes into this camp.

“She's obviously looking more as a decision-maker role as opposed to some of the outside backs."

Hinds is likely to contend for a playmaker position, potentially flyhalf, whilst Yapp revealed Terita could feature in the centres.

As for Caslick, Yapp was impressed with her growth at fullback after the Sevens legend guided them to the Final.

“She's been focusing on 15, which I think was really important for her to do, to try and get an understanding of the game, and you can see the growth in her over the last few games, just that understanding, the positioning," the former English international said.

“I think she says herself there's a lot of information to take on board, and I've been really impressed with how she's managed to do that.”

There are several Sevens players who could still come in for next month's Pacific Four series, including Maddison Levi.

Levi is fresh off becoming the first Australian to 200 Sevens tries, but has never played 15s after a thumb injury ruled her out of Super Rugby W.

“Post-LA is when she will become available, but ultimately, we want to make sure we're setting Maddi up for success," Yapp said.

“So just bringing her straight in to play a test match without any real 15s exposure or experience, because obviously, unfortunately, she missed out the Super W, wouldn't be fair on her. If we're bringing her in, we need to give her opportunities to train with the group first.”
